Robert Peterson, through non-judgmental but keen observations of behaviors and reasons behind them, has helped many individuals come to terms with their own issues in a positive manner that builds on living in the present. Since we cannot change the past (only our reaction to it) and, since we cannot know the future, we can use what we learn from the past and plan for the future as we focus on the present.

Prior to the pursuit of his Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, he worked as a producer of professional opera in Seattle, Cincinnati, Grand Rapids and San Antonio. For 10 years he was a featured presenter at the annual conference named "Creativity and Madness: A Psychological Study of Art and Artists". Since moving to North Carolina, he has been a part-time therapist at Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital Behavioral Health Services Clinic.

Mr. Peterson is a therapist for men, women and teenagers of diverse backgrounds. He has developed a specialty of working with military personnel who are experiencing severe combat stress, including Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, and with their families as well. His sense of caring and his awareness of the profound wounds of war, both psychologically and physically, aid in finding ways to alleviate symptoms and create understanding of the changes war brings.
